The school of hard knocks
Why is it that everybody has to learn things the hard way?
A person could be in the midst of the wisest, most enlightened person in the history of the world and will inevitably dismiss anything they say as irrelevant to their situation because “I’m different. I’m unique. Nobody knows anything about me or my life.”
Only after all the warnings given by the wise and enlightened person go unheeded and things end up exactly as forewarned, can a person see the wisdom that had been attempted to be imparted on them.
Such is life, I guess.
