Finally, here was a smart, well-written show which portrayed its characters like real people who happened to be thrust into extraordinary circumstances and didn't feel the need to rely on whiz-bang special effects or T & A.
Well, unbeknownst to me, Journeyman had not been doing well in the ratings, and on December 11th NBC decided to decline its option to order a full season--effectively canceling the show.
I only found this out when I wondered why Journeyman had not been on the past two Mondays and I decided to search Google a few hours ago.
As it turns out, a dedicated group of fans had already organized and even voiced opinions of a perceived lack of promotion of the show by NBC before it was cancelled. When they heard of the news, a "Save Journeyman" campaign was quickly organized.
I've never felt strongly enough about a show to become involved in a "Save ****" campaign, but I'm making a big exception in this case.
If you enjoyed Journeyman and are just now finding out that it has been cancelled (like me), I implore you to visit savejourneyman.net and check out the "About" and "Rice-a-Roni Campaign" pages. There are also forums there where you can communicate with other like-minded individuals.
I'd also like to point you to the Journeyman Page on "Hey! neilson" where you can have your opinions known by The Neilson Company, the organization which network television uses to gauge its ratings. As I write this, Journeyman is the 3rd highest ranked show by online voters.
I can only hope that if the outpouring of support for this show does not get this show back on NBC that it will be picked up by another network which actually knows how to properly handle non-lowest-common-denominator programming.
So thinking optimistically, things can only get less depressing. :)
