There are oceans and waves and wires between us.

Bio:
Michael Serrano was born in Denver, Colorado on a warm and sunny Mother's Day, the 8th of May in 1977. Between 1977 and 1982 Michael had such great adventures as repeatedly climbing out of his crib and falling on his head (which explains a great many things) and overcoming the irrational fear of being sucked down the bathtub drain. Between 1982 and 1986 everything seems normal as he immensely enjoys school and regularly scores in the top 10% of his class. Early 1983 Michael is nominated and identified as a Talented and Gifted (TAG) student. From 1986 to 1990, school gradually transitions from a place of education to a domain of social oligarchy. Mr. Serrano soon realizes he does not possess the required social skills and turns to music and technology to escape his utterly meaningless existence.
In 1991 Michael and his family learns that his father has pulmonary hypertension caused by a congenital heart defect and can only be corrected with a heart/lung transplant. Hopes are high that modern medicine would be able to solve the problem.
During this same period, Michael often ditches class and gravitates to any open terminal in his school computer labs to hack the security system du jour and use BBS's (a common method of connecting to remote computers before the Internet became popular). The administrators of said computer systems take notice of Michael's computer skills, which leads him to a couple of side jobs fixing computers and setting up computer networks. However, in 1994, after nearly three years of not being able to navigate the minefield of social politics that high school had become, he eventually drops out.
In 1996, much to the approval of his parents, Michael goes back to high school and graduates that same year. In early 1997, Mr. Serrano gets a job as an Upgrades Technician at CompUSA; this job would be short-lived, however. Under the insistence of his father, Michael applies for a position at the very school district from which he dropped out a few years earlier. In October of 1997, Michael becomes the Media Technician for Boulder High School with such duties as computer network administration, computer technical support, A/V technical support, and web page design/administration (as of 2006, his current job). In 1998 Michael starts taking community college classes in an effort to get a degree in computer science.
In 1999, after being in and out of hospitals of all descriptions, Michael's father is informed that he is not a candidate for a heart/lung transplant. The entire Serrano family is devastated. Michael (unsuccessfully) tries to find solace in alcohol.
March 14, 2002, after over a decade of fighting a condition in which doctors originally gave him only six months to live, Michael's father, the biggest influence in his life, succumbs to congestive heart failure caused by pulmonary hypertension.
